Content Management
What it is about
The content management section is divided into two separate entities that allow you to manage the text content of the Vektori.fi system:
Articles
Articles are intended for publishing news, blog posts, announcements, or instructions, for example. They can be assigned a specific publication date and usually appear as separate pages or listings on the public side.
Content Parts
Content parts are smaller, independent text entities that can be flexibly embedded in different places within the system or website. They are identified by a unique tag, allowing the same content to be easily used in multiple locations.
Getting started
- Open the main menu on the left edge and click Content Management.
- From the submenu that opens, select either Articles or Content Parts depending on which you want to manage.
What you can do on this page
Articles
- View articles: You can see a list of all created articles. By default, the columns show the title, creator, creation date, and update date.
- Create a new article: Click + New Article at the top right corner. Fill in the required fields: Title, Content, and Publication (date and time). Save at the end.
- Filter the view: Click the Filters button on the right. You can search articles by ID or title and limit the number of rows displayed on the page.
Content Parts
- View content parts: You can see a list of existing content parts. By default, the list shows the name and tag of the content part.
- Create a new content part: Click + New Content Part at the top right corner. Fill in the required fields: Name, unique Tag, and Content. Save.
- Filter the view: From the Filters menu, you can search content parts by ID or name and change pagination.
Common functions in both views
- Edit the columns of the list: From the button at the top left corner of the table (three horizontal lines), you can select which columns (e.g. ID, Published, Created) you want to keep visible or hide.
- Use the rich text editor: When creating content, you have a versatile editor that allows you to bold, italicise, create lists, add links and images, and edit the HTML source code.
Tips and notes
Articles
- Scheduled publishing: When creating a new article, the "Publication" field automatically shows the current moment. You can change the date and time to set the article to be published at a desired time in the future.
Content Parts
- Logical tags: The Tag of a content part (e.g. homepage-welcome or contact-info) is a technical link that places the text in the correct location on the site or system. Always use clear, descriptive, and consistent tags. Avoid using spaces or special characters in tags.
General
- Show on page: If there is a lot of content, remember to use the Show on page setting in the Filters menu to display more rows at once (e.g. 15, 50, or 100).
